Neeraj Chopra Set for Switzerland Training Camp Before CWG 2026
The Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) has approved a 47-day foreign training camp for Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra in Switzerland as part of preparations for the upcoming Commonwealth Games 2026 and Asian Games 2026. The TOPS Core athlete will train at the Olympic Training Centre in Bienne from May 25 to July 10 while recovering from a back injury.
The Commonwealth Games 2026 will take place in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 23 to August 2, while the Asian Games 2026 are scheduled in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4.
Neeraj Chopra Eyes More Gold Medals
Neeraj Chopra has an outstanding record at major multi-sport events, winning gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and consecutive Asian Games gold medals in 2018 and 2022. The 28-year-old javelin throw star from Haryana will travel with coach Jai Choudhary and physiotherapist Ishaan Marwaha.
The approved proposal includes airfare, hotel accommodation, meals, visa expenses, medical insurance, extra baggage allowance for javelin equipment, treatment bed charges, and daily out-of-pocket allowance.
Manu Bhaker Approved for Italy Training Camp
The MOC also approved foreign training for double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker in Lucca, Italy, from May 13 to 22. The Indian pistol shooting star will train alongside coach Jaspal Rana and physiotherapist Snehil Khurana.
Manu Bhaker is expected to compete in the women’s 10m air pistol and 25m pistol events at the 2026 Asian Games and remains one of India’s strongest medal hopes.
Gulveer Singh Gets International Competition Exposure
Long-distance runner Gulveer Singh also received approval for foreign training and competition exposure in the United States from May 15 to June 17. The Asian Games bronze medallist will participate in elite races in Los Angeles and Nashville as part of his international preparation.
