A Journey Begins on Wheels

To mark this year’s celebration, a special thematic publicity caravan, titled “The Saga of Bali Yatra,” was inaugurated today at the iconic Bali Yatra Grounds in Cuttack. The launch ceremony was led by District Collector and Magistrate Shri Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde, who flagged off the beautifully designed caravan in the presence of enthusiastic citizens and officials.

This mobile exhibition is set to traverse the districts of Puri, Khordha, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, and Jajpur, spreading awareness about Odisha’s maritime heritage — a legacy that once connected the state’s ancient ports to distant lands across the Indian Ocean.

Speaking at the launch, Shri Shinde highlighted that the caravan aims to celebrate and promote Odisha’s seafaring history and cultural identity. “The Bali Yatra is not just a fair; it is a living tribute to our ancestors’ courage, craftsmanship, and curiosity about the world beyond our shores,” he said. “Through this caravan, we hope to rekindle that same pride and sense of discovery in every Odia heart.”

Dignitaries and Cultural Enthusiasts Join the Celebration

The event was graced by several prominent dignitaries, including Cuttack Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ms. Kirandeep Kaur Sahota, Additional District Magistrate Dr. Ipsita Priyadarshini Mishra, and District Culture Officer Shri Nalinikanta Sahoo among others.

On this occasion, an audio song dedicated to the historic Bali Yatra was also released. The song beautifully encapsulates Odisha’s ancient trade, heritage, and maritime glory. It was written by ACP Krushnachandra Sethi, composed by Bikash Shukla, and vocally performed by ACP Krushnachandra Sethi, ACP Satyajit Das, Bishnu Mohan Kabi, and Soujanya Rath.
