The Sports Authority of India (SAI) under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports celebrated ‘Hindi Diwas’ by organising the ‘Hindi Pakhwada’ from Tuesday to create awareness amongst employees to use Hindi as the official language in all their work.
The Hindi Pakhwada is being organised from September 16 to 29 across 12 SAI Regional Centres, 23 National Centres of Excellence (NCOEs), 1040 Khelo India Centres, 69 SAI Training Centres, Khelo India State Centres of Excellence (KISCE) along with Khelo India accredited academies across the sub-continent.
Inauguration Ceremony
The Hindi Pakhwada began with the lamp lighting by Sh. Hari Ranjan Rao, Secretary (Sports), Government of India, along with Sh. Mayank Srivastava, Deputy Director General (SAI), and Sh. Vishnu Kant Tiwari, Secretary (SAI). Famous poet and lyricist Ramayan Dhar Dwivedi graced the event as a special guest and also recited some of his well-acclaimed poems.
Smt. Geeta Parashar, Director-cum-Head, Rajbhasha Division (SAI), felicitated all the guests.
Activities and Competitions
Several activities and competitions are being organised as part of the Hindi Pakhwada – including Poetry Recitation, Rangoli, Hindi Slogan, Essay Writing, Debate, Art Exhibition, Hindi Story Writing Workshop, etc. – to encourage employees to use Hindi as the official language.
On Tuesday, more than 50 employees from different units of SAI participated in the poetry recitation competition. Additionally, various SAI departments also participated in the Rangoli making competition.
Guest Poet Remarks
Speaking about his experience, poet Ramayan Dhar Dwivedi said: “I am overwhelmed by the invitation extended to me by the Sports Authority of India and Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports as a guest poet to inaugurate the Hindi Pakhwada. I am obliged to SAI for honouring me by making me the judge of the poetry recitation contest. It was a wonderful experience listening to Hindi poems penned by SAI employees. Hindi is such a beautiful language, I urge everyone to make Hindi part of their daily lives.”
Upcoming Events
Day 2 of the Hindi Pakhwada will have a Hindi Story Writing Workshop followed by a Dictation Competition the next day. An Art Exhibition will be staged on September 19 followed by a Cyclothon on September 21 organised in collaboration with the Fit India Mission.
