KIUG Rajasthan 2025 Day 3 Report: Neeru Dhanda’s Fourth Gold & Jain University Dominance Continue

Jaipur, November 26: Trap shooters Neeru Dhanda and Aditya Bharadwaj powered Guru Nanak Dev University to a clean sweep of all four shotgun medals at the Khelo India University Games Rajasthan 2025, held at the Jagatpur Shooting Range. Their cyclists also dominated by winning both individual road races, taking GNDU’s gold tally into double digits.

The fifth edition of KIUG 2025 is spread across seven cities of Rajasthan, featuring 4448 athletes from 222 Universities competing in 23 disciplines. The Games are conducted under the aegis of the Sports Authority of India in collaboration with the Rajasthan State Sports Council and hosted by Poornima University.

At the end of Day 3 action, Jain University continued to top the medal standings with 12 gold, 6 silver and 7 bronze medals. Guru Nanak Dev University climbed to second spot with 10 gold, while Lovely Professional University held third position with eight gold medals.

Neeru Dhanda Wins Fourth Straight KIUG Gold

Asian Shooting Championships gold medallist Neeru Dhanda clinched her fourth consecutive KIUG individual trap gold with a final score of 47 points. Teammates Manisha Keer (39) and Nandika Singh (30) completed a GNDU podium sweep. GNDU also secured the team gold with a score of 344.

Aditya Bharadwaj Leads GNDU Men to Golden Double

Aditya Bharadwaj clinched the men’s trap gold with a score of 45, leading GNDU to another golden double. Jungsher Singh Virk (Punjabi University) took silver with 43, while Bhaktiyaar Malik (Manav Rachna) claimed bronze.

GNDU Cyclists Dominate Road Races

Meenakshi Rohilla added the women’s individual road race gold to her time trial title, while Akshar Tyagi won the men’s event, taking GNDU’s tally to 10 gold medals.

Jain University Extends Swimming Dominance

Defending champions Jain University maintained their lead with four swimming golds, including both 4x100 freestyle relays. Nina Venkatesh won the women’s 50m butterfly, and Bhavya Sachdeva triumphed in the women’s 400m IM.

Harsh Saroha Stuns Olympian Srihari Nataraj

Chandigarh University’s Harsh Saroha produced a standout performance, beating Olympian Srihari Nataraj in the men’s 50m butterfly with a time of 24.90s. He later added the 200m butterfly gold, while teammate Ishan Rathi won the 200m backstroke.

Rajasthan’s Sagar Brings Home Gold

At the wrestling venue in Bharatpur, Sagar from Dr KN Modi University, Paiki, grabbed the men’s 97kg Greco-Roman gold defeating Ritik of Guru Kashi University. Ritik appeared hampered by a leg injury, and Sagar capitalised to secure his second KIUG gold after his 130kg triumph last year in Kohima.

The Khelo India University Games, organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Sports Authority of India, are India’s largest university-level multi-sport event. The Games aim to identify and nurture talented young athletes by providing them with a national platform to compete and excel. The fifth edition, hosted in Rajasthan, continues this legacy by expanding opportunities and raising standards in university sports.

About Khelo India

The Khelo India Scheme is the flagship Central Sector Scheme of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. These competitions act as a primary national platform for identifying sporting talent and creating development pathways for gifted young athletes.

So far, 20 editions of Khelo India Games have been conducted across India, including seven editions of the Khelo India Youth Games, four editions of the Khelo India University Games, five editions of the Khelo India Winter Games, two editions of the Khelo India Para Games, and one edition each of the Khelo India Beach Games and Water Sports Festival.
