He credited initiatives like Fit India and Khelo India with sparking awareness and enthusiasm for fitness and sports, and emphasized the need for sustained reforms to nurture India’s talent pool.
Vision to Rank Among Top 5 Sporting Nations
The minister revealed that the government is working on 10-year and 25-year strategic plans to transform India’s sporting ecosystem and make the nation a global sporting superpower.
National Sports Governance Act 2025
Positioned as a landmark reform, this act will ensure athlete-centric governance, dedicated dispute redressal mechanisms, and mandatory representation of women in sports decision-making bodies.
Khelo Bharat Niti - 2025
Developed through global benchmarking and stakeholder consultations, this future-ready policy aims to create a robust talent pipeline, promote sports academies, and encourage professional leagues across the country.
Call for Collective Action
Dr. Mandaviya concluded by urging government, industry, institutions, and citizens to work together to elevate India’s standing in the global sports arena.
The event also saw the inauguration of the Sports Tech and Manufacturing Expo, attended by Smt. PT Usha (President, IOA), Dr. Nirmala Laksham (Chairperson, The Hindu Group), Shri Ayon Sengupta (Editor, Sportstar), and other prominent dignitaries.
